That's honestly gonna need a little imagination but the way I see it:

GP characters have is what they use to buy things in universe.

GP that forum users spend to buy characters are just the guild hiring new recruits / part-time workers

i think im now more or less set on the idea of adding a secondary account-level currency to handle character slots and restricted species, just to get rid of that weirdness.

kinda struggling to think of other things this currency could be used for though
