you may have seen a copypasta floating around about a "grid ban", where Discord is allegedly banning people for posting images with a grid pattern in it, alleging CSAM/CP.

this is partially misinformation according to a discord dev. allegedly, these bans are meant to be temporary and are not AI-powered. i believe the latter, but not the former.

not surprising that most of this is fearmongering, given almost all of these copypastas are. why do we still follow these?

EDIT: the dev is lying, or at least wrong, so i don't believe a word they say here. discord has previously bragged about using AI to fight CSAM: https://discord.com/safety/how-discord- ... fight-csam

ofc this shouldn't have happened at all, but really im just amused at this automated system at all given that they only give temporary bans to known predators (see the previous post)
