feedback: activity requirement

yay more feedback! reply here, pm it to me, or whatever else i said

im tired of inactive rps and i think that's part of what killed pmd toc. rps died and people lost interest. so, i want to implement an inactivity system. that said i know people have stuff going on irl so it's pretty lenient.

what im thinking currently (note that some things have changed):
  • you must make a response to each rp you're in every week or two. inactive rps can and will be closed without warning, and usually won't be reopened if closed because of this.
  • if you don't have any active rps in the span of a month, all of your characters get archived. when this happens, they cannot be unarchived for another month.
  • you can make a temporary leave post if you know you won't be able to RP for a while. the reason doesn't matter, and it doesn't have to be approved. when this is made, you're "safe" for up to three months. after three months go by, if you still haven't rped, your characters are archived per the previous bullet point.
Justification and reasoning
  • for the most part, in most scenarios, i can't see why someone wouldn't be physically able to respond to an rp within a week. i consider it rude/impolite to not respond to an rp in a timely manner, especially without saying anything.
  • in the event shit does hit the fan for someone and they genuinely can't rp, there still does need to be a way for them to take a break, hence the temporary leave subforum. it's technically abusable but i trust people not to take advantage of that.
  • characters can't be unarchived for a month to prevent character slot abuse - keep in mind this rule is mostly in place for when people willingly archive their characters. you can also make a new character right away if you decide you want to try something new, and then spend account currency on a new slot to bring the other character back.
while i think what i wrote here is perfectly fine and within reason, it might actually be too strict, hence me making this feedback topic. please let me know if this is too much.

yes i know i was inactive too in pmd toc. i will be holding myself to the same standard here. im also banking on the hope that the setting is fun enough to where this won't be an issue.

this absolutely was heavy-handed. immediate changes:
  • the per-rp response timer is two weeks (not just one)
  • the per-rp response timer doesn't apply to casual rps. closing casual rps due to inactivity is dumb and I should've considered that at first. there will already be incentive to complete them in the form of a per-character rp limit anyway.
  • job request rps are unchanged. since they will ideally have dedicated dungeon masters, it is imperative that they are completed in a timely manner.
  • going inactive in roleplay events will simply result in your character being removed from the rp, so that the event can continue smoothly. the host decides what happens in this case; by default, you don't get any rewards from the event.
ill edit OP properly tomorrow as im currently AFK for mothers day
