News and Politics Guidelines

Discussions about news and politics have a tendency to get quite heated. Because of this, some additional rules/reminders are in place specifically for this subforum.
  • Keep the board-wide rules in mind, especially rules 1-3 and 6. I will be much more heavy-handed here compared to the other subforums.
  • Don't exclude or dismiss people based on their beliefs or viewpoints on a certain topic. Remember that people were raised in different environments, and may see the world in a drastically different lens as a result.
  • Generally, no topic is off limits; however, if you know someone isn't comfortable with a particular topic, don't @mention them in it.
  • When claiming something as fact, please provide a reliable source. Hearsay is discouraged where possible.
If you're making people uncomfortable, you can and likely will lose access to this subforum. We're here to have respectful conversations and debates, not harass or insult people you don't like.
